Intermezzo opus 117 no. 1
The three Intermezzi Opus 117 are some of the most beautiful piano pieces composed by Brahms and were published in 1892. Brahms described them as "Wiegenlieder meiner Schmerzen" ("Lullabies to my sorrows"). The Intermezzo Opus 117 no. 1 was inspired by the Scottish lullaby Sleep softly my child.
